David joined the Retired Teachers Association Walking Group in 1994 at a time when his eyesight was failing due to Macular Degeneration. He also became a member of ARPA Bushwalkers about the same time and despite his disability has contributed to both groups through the planning and leading of camps and walks. Despite his failing sight he typed and edited the ARPA quarterly Bushwalkers magazine for a number of years. He was the Secretary of Retired Teachers Association Walking Group keeping meticulous records and mentoring new secretaries when he retired. Despite his sight continuing to fail he has attempted to keep walking and leading by being a member of many of the Retired Teachers Association Walking Group walking groups. An inspiration to all.
