Developing the ‘Roof Top Loop Walk’ Accessible Trail at Naracoorte Caves

The new 850m-long Roof Top Loop Walk provides universal access for people of all ages and abilities, giving all wheelchairs and people with prams access to experience the fascinating world of Naracoorte Caves. As the state’s only World Heritage Listed site, the Caves are a key destination for regional tourism in South Australia. More than 50,000 people visited the Naracoorte Caves in 2018, and the upgrades will mean that old and new tourists are likely to return. Accessible trails and tourism is something that the state and nation is increasingly focusing on, as it allows more people to more easily enjoy nature and exercise.

About the Walking Awards

Walking SA has initiated annual awards to recognise sustained and outstanding contribution to walking at all levels throughout South Australia.

Many volunteers and others have contributed to South Australia’s great walking trails, waling clubs, and walking promotion and opportunities for health, wellbeing, recreation and tourism.

If you know of someone who should be considered for an award please do consider nominating them, nominations are taken throughout the year.
