Walking SA has joined a collective of professional and community bodies calling on the State Government and LIV Golf organisers to adopt a “Biodiversity Guarantee” for the planned LIV Golf development in the Adelaide Parklands.

Our concerns centre around the loss of 585 mature trees, including an estimated 280 “significant” trees, some more than 150 years old.

We are requesting that the Government takes 3 reasonable actions:

1. Publish detailed hole-by-hole plansand disclose the full footprint of works.
2. Identify and protect the most important trees at risk, with genuine consultation involving independent qualified golf course designers and ecological experts to avoid the most important removals wherever possible.
3. Commit togenuine offsetsto mitigate what cannot be saved — including planting older trees (not tubestock), a 10x replacement standard for each mature tree lost, planting 10x understory habitat islands, and installing 5x high-quality nest boxes per natural hollow lost with 50-year funded maintenance.
