October 2023 is our month to Step into Spring
Throughout October we're celebrating walking with Step into Spring.
October is ideal for walking – the temperatures are mild and the evenings are getting longer. There is no shortage of events and opportunities to be active and enjoy the outdoors.

Find a place to walk. We've short listed some of the best walks.

Join a walking event: with a walking club or a local council or health body.

2023 South Australian Billion Steps Challenge
Join the 2023 South Australian Billion Steps Challenge!
Every step counts and the more you move, the better you feel. Tracking steps is a great motivation to keep moving everyday which is why we are inviting South Australians to sign up for the fourth annual Billion Steps Challenge starting on 1 October.
Sign up for free and log your steps throughout October to help South Australia reach one billion steps by the end of the month. Can we beat last year’s effort and do it in less than 30 days?
MyMarathon
The fundraising race where you set the pace
MyMarathon is your opportunity to help raise funds for lifesaving heart disease research, while challenging yourself to walk or run 42.2 km (or more) over hours, days or weeks during October.
You can do it on your own, or as part of a team with friends or colleagues.
Whatever the pace, we’ll be there to encourage you every step of the way – while you do your personal best for the people you care about.
MyMarathon is hosted by the Heart Foundation.
Find an Event
Throughout October there are plenty of walking events that are easy to join, including walks hosted by our walking club members, health bodies, local councils and walk-for-a-cause events.
