Angaston Heritage Trail

About the Historical walk

The land that today we call Angaston has been the spiritual and physical home of the Peramangk, Nadjuri and Kaurna people since the dawn of time. We acknowledge this ongoing connection, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

Today, Angaston is a delightful rural village. It is a town whose heritage and traditions are valued and integrated into modern living. The well-preserved old buildings, huge street trees and pastoral vistas make it a delight to explore.

The Angaston Heritage trail can be accessed using a printed brochure or via the free Barossa Heritage Trails App, which can be downloaded to your device on Apple or Android.

Discover the stories of our district as you wander along the wide streets. Listen to some personal recollections and read about the characters and significant events that brought the town to life. Stop for a coffee or bite to eat along the way. This walking tour is approximately 3km and should take about an hour to complete.

The Barossa Heritage Trails App features six self-guided walking trails and one driving trail. The interactive app highlights the rich and sometimes little-known heritage stories and experiences of the region through text, photos, video and audio. Explore unique locations, buildings and historic sites, encompassing both First Nations and European settlement.

The project is an initiative of The Barossa Council Public Libraries supported by Barossa Regional Heritage Network, Foundation Barossa and the Peter Lehmann Arts & Education Trust.

The Heritage Walk brochure & map can be collected from The Barossa Valley Cheese Company located at 67b Murray Street Angaston.
