A Walk Around the Historic Aldinga Precinct

About the Historical walk

A brochure with 11 historic sistes around central Aldinga – each is marked with an orange triangle. Aldinga developed from the 1850s as farming grew on the nearby plains. A local farmer, Lewis Fidge, laid out the village of Aldinga in 1857.

The name ‘Aldinga’ may be a corruption of an Aboriginal word meaning ‘much water’, while other sources suggest it is more likely to mean ‘open, wide’.
