Boarding House Bay Hike, Whidbey Wilderness Area

About the Walking Trail

The Boarding House Bay Hike passes through the spectacular landscape of Whidbey Wilderness Area through coastal heath and low mallee. You’ll see cliffs, beaches and offshore reefs.

The first 7.5km of the trail is shared with the Whidbey Hike. The entire Boarding House Bay Hike is 12.7km one way to end (25.4km return), however if you stop when you reach the beach it is 10.7km one way to beach (21.4km return.)

The trails through the Whidbey Wilderness Area follow old vehicle tracks and are long.

Begin the hike from the trailhead near Sensation Beach, which is only accessible by 4WD through Coffin Bay National Park. The trailhead is approximately 1 hour driving from Black Springs Campground, and 1.75 to 2 hours from Yangie Bay Campground.
