Cape du Couedic Hike

About the Walking Trail

After doing the Admirals Arch Walk explore the area around the lighthouse further on this Cape du Couedic Hike loop trail. The trail meanders along away from the crowds, with viewing lookouts over the ocean and on the hilltop. Interpretive signs along the way describe plants and the way of life for lighthouse keepers and their families that tended this remote outpost.

The hike can be commenced from either the upper carpark near the toilets and trails information board (also near the lighthouse) or from the lower carpark, at the start of the Admirals Arch Walk. As at January 2017, the trail is well marked on the western side of the loop, but the arrow markers on the eastern half are old and a little vague at times, but we would expect these signs would be upgraded. The optional hike to the lookout in the north western corner is well recommended.

Extend the hike by doing theĀ Lighthouse Heritage Walk loop.
