Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail – Stage 4 (Leasingham to Auburn)

About the Walking Trail

The 100km Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail showcases Clare Valley’s natural beauty & premium food and wine products.

Passing through the enchanting village of Auburn, Stage 4 comprises the southernmost section of the Trail, and can be completed on foot or by bike. Although Auburn will charm you with its bespoke cellar doors, historic pub, and delightful cafe culture, Mount Horrocks is arguably the hero of this Stage, being visible from almost every aspect. Only 12.5km in length, but easily stretched into a full day’s outing given the many places of interest to visit along the way.

The trail begins and ends at the Clare Valley Wine, Food & Tourism Centre at 8 Spring Gully Rd, Clare SA 5453. The walking trail consists of six stages. All other trail heads are located at wineries.

The trail was completed in May 2025, after the initial stages were opened in 2021.

The trail will travel on a network of backroads, road reserves & private property. Where possible the hiking trail follows cross country trail routes.

The trail showcases the region’s natural beauty & premium food and wine products, passing 20 cellar doors, 7 restaurants and 4 pubs.
