About the Walking Trail
Enjoy a ride or walk along Port Augusta’s scenic coastline on the 7.8km Coastal Path.
The trail is shared use cycling and walking path and runs from the back beach, along the coast right through to the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden. The path can be linked into a various points along the way so you can opt for a short journey or go the entire length of the path.
The Coastal Path is well signposted, has access to drinking water at various points with water bottle refill stations, and passes many points of interest such as the skate park, both foreshores, playgrounds and fitness equipment stations. The trail map also shows the location of playgrounds.
Although not specifically denoted as wheelchair accessible by the Port Augusta City Council, the trail is wide, well formed, and has a flat and even base. In some sections the gravel may not be compacted enough for some wheelchair users.
The trail was completed in 2014 as a project between OPAL and Port Augusta City Council.
