Gawler Church Hill Walking Tour

About the Historical walk

A self-guided heritage walk through the cultural with brochure, industrial and commercial sites in Gawler.

Colonel Light’s plan for Gawler featured three squares along Cowan Street. Each was to accommodate a church: Catholic, Anglican and Presbyterian.

The Anglican and Catholic churches were built where Light planned while four other churches were also constructed in the area. They were a welcome addition to the the town, for previously, travelling chaplains had to hold services in private home or business premises.
