About the Walking Trail
The Lions Walking Trail in Balaklava follows the gum-lined Wakefield River.
The trail begins from a walkway at the end of Elizabeth Street, following the river past Balaklava Memorial Hospital and back to War Memorial Drive. The trail connects with the shared-use Shamus Liptrot Cycling Trail which follows the old rail line for 11km from Balaklava to Halbury.
The trail is 3.3km one-way. A 3.2km loop can be made by returning along War Memorial Drive to the trailhead near the Ambulance Station (starting from end of Elizabeth Street would make this a 4.2km loop).
