About the Walking Trail
The Lock 5 Loop Trail is a walking, cycling and running trail for individuals and families to enjoy the river and riverbank scenery. It starts along the flood bank adjacent the Sturt Highway in Renmark and follows a sealed path towards the historic Paringa Bridge (this 1.6km section is wheelchair accessible). Crossing through the centre of the bridge (originally designed to carry a single railway line) with road lane on each side. Once across the bridge the trail circles under the bridge, passing the Renmark Paringa Community Museum and the Murray River to arrive at Bert Dix Memorial Park.
From Bert Dix Memorial Park, the trail continues along Lock 5 Road until you reach Lock 5. Walkers and runners are asked to follow the signs and keep to the right of the road to see oncoming traffic.
The trail is designed as a loop and can be used from either end. The trail can also be started in central Renmark by using theĀ Matulick Riverfront Trail, or by following the shared path fromĀ Darnley Taylor Park.
Please use your own discretion about the trail conditions following rain, during river high river events and crossing roads. There are several public toilets and benches along the way.
