About the Walking Trail

The walking trail to the summit of Mt Barker begins at the far end of the second carpark, near the white interpretive signs. The 250 metre trail is an easy walk, and passes a lookout area with picnic tables before reaching the summit.

Mt Barker Summit Reserve is one of the district’s most important conservation areas protectiong valuable biodiversity, including some of the region’s most threatened plants and animals. A treasured place of historical, geological and cultural significance, and of central importance to the Peramangk and Njarrindjerri people.

The carpark gate on Mt Summit Road is locked before dusk every night.
