About the Walking Trail
Continue past the Farina Creek Walk to explore the original narrow gauge railway line. Be aware that this is a bush track marked by star pickets every 30m and is rough in places. Keep a lookout for old sleepers, railway “dogs” (the big fat bolt/nails that are used to fix the rails to their supporting sleepers) that are scattered around either side of the old track – but note these must not be removed.
The trail is 1.7km long. If walked with the Farina Creek Walk from the trailhead near the campground, the total loop is 3.5km. You can walk just the Narrow Gauge River Crossing Walk by starting from the Farina to Maree road, which you can drive to or walk the 700m from the bakery.
The best time to visit Farina is during the winter months, particularly when the Farina Restoration Group has the Underground Bakery open.
