Outer Harbour Greenway from Adelaide Railway Station to Pt Adelaide Lighthouse

About the Walking Route

Take in some railside walking along the Outer Harbour Greenway (OHG) with a mix of history, nature, public art and early Adelaide homes in some of our older suburbs. Walk in either direction, enjoy a meal at the end and catch the train back afterwards.

The walk starts (or ends) at the Adelaide Railway Station. From the station, walk out to the River Torrens / Karrawirra Parri, following the river through Bonython Park / Tulya Wardli to connect to the start of the Outer Harbour Greenway at Bowden. Follow the greenway, which is either a wide shared-use trail, or suburban street footpaths, to Port Adelaide. Follow the roadside footpaths through buildings in the historic port, out to the wharf and to the Port Adelaide Lighthouse. From the lighthouse, walk down Commercial Road to the Port Adelaide Railway Station to catch a train back to Adelaide.

The walking route is 14.6km long one-way. This walk is a suggested route, not a marked trail, so you will need to find your own way. From Bowden, the route to the lighthouse is marked continuously as the Outer Harbour Greenway.

The Outer Harbour Greenway extends a further 9km out on the Lefevre Peninsula to Outer Harbour.
