About the Walking Trail
This hike passes through open woodland dominated by river red gum, manna gum and blue gum. The trail loops around the former quarry. The hike is along fire tracks and walking trail.
Start from Gate 6. Due to water in Coles Creek it is often not possible to drive to the carpark, but it’s only a 100m walk from the last practical car accessible section of the road at Gate 7 (Coles Crossing Road) to the Gate 6 trailhead. Access to Coles Crossing Road is along about 8km of dirt road, and the descent into the valley and Coles Crossing can be narrow and steep.
Extend the hike by doing the longer Emu Wren Hike (11.0km).
