About the Walking Trail
Extend the Stamford Hill Hike (an out-and-back 2.3 km / 45 min return) on this full loop, up over the Stamford Hill and returning along the coast on a section of the Investigator Trail.
Excellent views, tranquil surrounds and interesting history are features of this hike. Take in the magnificent panorama of Lincoln National Park, Boston Bay and offshore island from the historic Flinders Monument at the top of Stamford Hill. Discover historic ruins left by the woodcutters (near checkpoint 6).
At way up to the summit of Stamford Hill there are interpretive signs about the challenges Matthew Flinders encountered in finding water, and signs about the area’s natural history.
Begin the hike from the car park, picnic area and beach at the base of Stamford Hill.
