About the Walking Trail
Walk from central Waikerie out to a lookout, following the former Cliff Top Track which was used from 1894 by settlers to walk between the settlements of Holder and Waikerie. The track is close the river because the scrub was so dense.
The height of the cliffs gives a fantastic view over the River Murray and the meandering floodplain. River floods now occur only once in 10 or 12 years, but the evidence of flood activity is still evident in a complex of terraces, hollows, wetlands, billabongs, backwaters and anabranches.
