Walk In Her Shoes Challenge

Monday 2 March 2020

Walk 6km a day for from 2-8 March 2020, to align with International Women’s day. Walk every day for a week and support women and girls.

Care’s Walk In Her Shoes Challenge is an annual event that encourages Australians to walk and raise funds to support women and girls living in poverty.

This is a flexible challenge you can do in your own time during October. When you sign up your business, each team member can choose their own challenge to suit their ability – walk or run between 10km and 150km, and take the challenge over a day, a week or a fortnight.

Women are often the most disadvantaged and impoverished members of poor communities. The injustice that they face is evident by their burden of walking to collect food, water and firewood, which prevents girls from going to school and women from earning an income – keeping them trapped in a devastating cycle of poverty.

For women and girls in developing countries, poverty is not just about a lack of food, water and shelter. It is also caused by the denial of their right to go to school, earn an income, make household decisions and make decisions about their health and bodies.
