The WalkFest consists of over 30 exhibitors, providing information about walking opportunities and trails, walking groups, walking tours & travel, walking destinations, outdoor gear, and walking maps.

Join a guided hike where our guides will show you the natural bushland, woodlands and trails in the park. With walks ranging from easy to challenging, and from 45 mins to 3 hours, there are child friendly, pram friendly, dog friendly and Accessible walk options. View the guided walks.

An official ceremony at 11:30am will open the bushwalking season to celebrate the start of the South Australian bushwalking season. With the arrival of cooler autumn weather, hiking is an ideal outdoor activity.

Walking SA is the Presenter of this annual WalkFest, having done so for many years, hinged on the opening of the bushwalking season each year in April.

Walking SA is the not-for-profit peak body that leads, promotes and supports all forms of walking in South Australia. Our vision is to see more people walking more often. You can support Walking SA's efforts by joining as a Member from as little as $25.

The WalkFest is accessible by Adelaide Metro public transport.

For travel by car, there is limited car parking available in multiple car parks around the WalkFest site, so we encourage car pooling or public transport use. Marshals will be directing drivers to parking locations throughout the park, and you can follow walking paths and roadside paths to the WalkFest site at Main Oval.

Choose from one of 20 walks that depart the WalkFest site between 7:00am to 1pm.

Participate in these walks by registering online or by registering on the day at the WalkFest ticket booth. Tickets are $10 per adult and $6 per child. Family tickets are $26 for two adults and two children. All monies raised go to funding Walking SA, with thanks.

To ensure you (and your children) enjoy the walk please select a walk that is not too long or challenging.

Book early online to avoid disappointment as most walks will sell out before the day. The WalkFest ticket booth is located near the toilets.

To participate in a Guided Walk we require participants to fill in the Medical Information Form:

• If you are able to PRINT the form, please download the Medical Information Form, fill it in and bring it along on the day.
• No printer? That's ok, we'll have the Medical Information Form available on the day for you to fill in. Please allow arrive 30 minutes before your walk to allow time to fill in the form.

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of your experience please read the following guidelines about what to bring and what to wear:

1. You are responsible for your own fitness and preparedness for the walk:
   • This includes wearing suitable footwear with adequate tread (this could be walking shoes, running shoes or hiking boots).
   • Bring a hat and dress appropriately for the weather.
   • If you have any questions about your fitness or the requirements of the walk, please ask us prior to commencing the walk. People with medication needs and / or special requirements should discuss their needs with us.
   • You are responsible for carrying your own food (snacks), water (suggest 1-2L, water bottles can be refilled at the WalkFest site), some basic first aid equipment (suggest for blisters), and any required medication.
2. You are responsible for any children under 18 that you bring along on the walk with you. A ratio of up to 2 accompanied children per responsible adult.
   • Please book children on the walk when you book yourself. We are not able to accommodate late bookings on the day if sold out.
   • Please make sure your child is adequately equipped and capable to enjoyably complete the walk you have chosen to book on.
3. The Guided Walks are a group experience. There will be walk leader at the start of the group, and another at the back of the group. The group may spread out, but will regularly re-group, typically at junctions or the top of hills.
   • You should check with the walk leader before walking on ahead, and if you need to leave the group (for toileting, to withdraw from the walk, taking photos, or any other reason) please advise one of your walk leaders to avoid unnecessary duress.
   • You should ensure that walkers behind you are kept within eyesight.
   • Please don’t bring pets along, as they may not be welcomed by others in the group. On walks marked 'Dog Friendly' you are welcome to bring and walk your dog provided that they remain under your control and on a lead that is no more than 2 metres in length, that you bring disposable bags to clean up after your dog and be mindful of other guided walk participants and trail users.
   • Please don’t smoke or leave any litter.
4. Participants may be refused entry onto any walk if not equipped or deemed not suitable, at Walking SA’s discretion.

Dogs are welcome at the WalkFest provided they remain under control and on a lead no more than two metres in length, that you bring disposable bags to clean up your dog’s faeces and be mindful of other people.

The WalkFest site is on a gravel and dry grasssed area, with some overflow onto the green grassed area of Main Oval.

There are several walks available which are Wheelchair Friendly.

Walk registrations and water will be inside of the Pavilion shed, there is no step to enter.

There are modern toilets on-site, which include a Disabled Toilet.

There are priority disabled car parking areas and drop-off areas in the two car parks closest to the WalkFest site:

• Main Oval, enter via the main park entrance off Upper Sturt Road (Google Maps link: https://goo.gl/maps/1a3E8BPs4Fk9dEAS6), and follow signs to Main Oval. These carparking spaces are temporary and are on a bitumen surface, and are 30 metres from the WalkFest northern entrance, along bitumen and gravel paths.
• The large carpark at the former Country Club, outside of the caravan park, enter off Upper Sturt Road at the "Belair National Park Holiday Park" marked entrance (Google Maps link: https://goo.gl/maps/Gb43Wn8zv5ptCYQi8). These carparking spaces are temporary and are on a rough gravel surface, and are 50 metres from the WalkFest southern entrance, through a personal-access gate and along gravel paths.
